This spigot is set to sprinkle water on the logs several times a week to keep them damp and help them break down.
Mushrooms can be grown at home by innoculating them with different types of spawn. Sold in plugs, they will colonize these maple logs in about a year. Here, Pearl Oyster, Shiitake, and Turkey Tail are introduced.
